Question by : Can you check when a domain name expires?
The domain name I want is take. The site, however, looks unprofessional. It also says page under construction. At the bottom of the site there is an advertisement to buy your own domain name, which is ironic. I have a feeling that this site won’t continue, as if the creator had an idea and did not follow through. I want this name, is there any way I can check to see when to contract ends to check up on it?
Also, the site is about medical equipment. When I click around the navigation menu, it just shows a list of references to products from random sites.

Best answer:

Answer by Thinker
Sure. Checkout WHOIS Domain Registration information for the domain name. You can access one here: http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp

How Does Expired Domain Name Traffic Work?

It is safe to say that expired domain traffic is one of the most responsive ways of traffic generation on the Internet. Here is why: when your prospects search for specific information by doing a keyword search they will often find a website or expired domain that is no longer actively updated.

Unlike owners who leave these sites be despite the fact that they might rank high in the search engines expired domain name traffic redirects the visitor to a real website such as yours. This means you can utilize a he network of these domains to attract qualified leads to your site. Leads who are highly targeted and will be more inclined to buy than traffic that comes from less qualified sources.

Expired domain traffic is the most responsive traffic on the web and here’s why…

The people who will end up on your site from the redirected traffic of the expired domains have expressed their interest in your product or services – after all, they were doing a search online for the keyword/product name you offer.

Therefore you will be getting highly targeted traffic of visitors will be inclined to take a closer look at what you have to offer, especially since their first point of contact (the expired domain) was unfruitful.

Marketers pay a lot of money for warm market prospects like these and you will get them for mere pennies.

Does it matter what products you sell?

No, regardless of what you offer, chances are there is a market for it and someone out there is looking for your product right now. Expired domain name traffic helps you to position yourself in front of that hungry buyer and the best part of it is that it is very affordable – even if you are just getting started.

You can purchase traffic starting from as little as .50, the cost of a small snack, a cup of coffee or a sandwich. I think it would be fair to say that this is a very affordable way for newbies to start sending targeted traffic to their site without busting their finances.

Where can you buy expired domain name traffic?

Before you part with your money you have to make sure that the company you deal with is reputable. A lot of shoddy operators are out there to get your money and all they give you in return is fake traffic that was generated from a bot (a software).

In order to protect your investment – regardless how small – you need to do some research to find a reputable service provider for expired domain name traffic. Deal with a company who specializes in this type of traffic only, a company who has been around for a while and can back up their claims with real testimonials and a money back guarantee.

Article by Menno Spijkstra

Buying domain names is one of the first steps towards establishing a new business online. If you want to create your presence online, you have to buy a name for your proposed web site. You may find a lot of names for your site but perhaps not the best ones especially when the niche you want is quite saturated already. Many of established competitors may have taken your desired name already and there are few choices left. Anyhow, there are always better ways on how to deal with this for as long as you know how to find avenues in getting the most appropriate name for your web site.

Despite the skyrocketing number of new web sites being put up, a high percentage of these new businesses are closing shop within their first year of operation. Others may have failed in their quest and realized the internet business is not for them, while others may have shifted to another niche which they deem more profitable. Whatever reasons they have, their being out of business would mean that the domains they have purchased will eventually be unused. Either they would sell it or make money out of it. Domain name parking is one way of making an income from domains.

If you have an unused name, then you may have it parked in sites in order for it to be income generating. You may also decide to have it auctioned in web portals because there might be interested buyers and you may charge it at a premium rate. Somehow, you could never really go “income-less” if you invest in domain names. Another sure fire way of making an income is to buy and sell expired domain names. There are certain skills that you need to learn in order to be successful at buying expired domain names. Once you have learned and applied these techniques, then you can be assured of earning your desired income from expired domain names.

There are a number of reasons why it is encouraging to buy and sell domains. One, you can dispose these domains when the right time comes for as long as you make it competitive while you are waiting for it to be sold. For it to profit while waiting for its buyer, you can have pay per click ads. You could create the web site and have ads posted in it. This way your site will gain traffic and you can also earn from it. This can also be one way of making your domains popular online and hope that there will be an interested buyer in the future.

You need to be keen at determining a good domain name that has the potential of being a success on the internet. Even if they are expired domain names, there are a number of ways in which you can make them generate income again. One, you can create a valuable package with an excellent name as your forefront and other domains as freebies. So, if you have an excellent name, you can have other domains tied up to it in order to create a valuable package. Whatever you do, just ensure that your expired domain names get good traffic so that it will remain competitive until the time when an interested buyer will bid for it.

When that time comes, you’ll surely realize that there’s money from expired domain names.

Question by John: Is there a grace period after a domain name expires for the owner to renew the contract?
I want to grab a domain name that somebody else is currently using (the site looks empty and abandoned). I know the exact time when it will expire from looking at whois.net. Does that mean that immediately after that time the domain name is up-for-grabs, or is there a “grace period” offered to the site owner to renew the hosting contract? The hosting provider in this case is GoDaddy.com, if it makes any difference.

Best answer:

Answer by Gardner
Most providers will give the old owner up to 30 days past the expy date to renew. They may pull the domain off line until payment is received, but they will wait the 30 days.

Used domain names are often auctioned off. It’s pretty rare to pick up a used name for the same price as a new one. Especially if the old site had a high traffic volume.

I love the idea of buying domain names…it is a great way to expand your existing home based internet marketing businesses for not a lot of money. That is pretty cool, right? You grow your list, make more sales without having to build a new website and without having to take a lot of time or spend a lot of money to do it. Seems too good to be true…but it isn’t!

Traffic is the lifeblood of the internet. Of course the key is targeted traffic. You can build this traffic yourself organically, or you can take a short cut. You do that by buying a domain where someone else has already done that work.

That way you can take advantage of the work someone else has already put into a website. There are a lot of reasons why someone might let a domain name expire. Maybe it was getting a lot of traffic but they didn’t have the right products for that traffic-or maybe no products for that traffic-so they weren’t bringing in any money…or not enough money.

Maybe they lost interest. Maybe they no longer had time. Maybe it was a hobby or a passing fancy. Whatever. If they put in the time to build links and get everything to get traffic to the site and then let the name expire, you can turn it around and make some bucks from it.

One way that you can make money from expired domain names is to redirect the traffic to your existing website. Domain names expire in just about every niche you can think of. That means you can get an expired domain name that has traffic that is already targeted to your niche! And we all know that targeted traffic is the best kind. So when you are considering buying expired domain names you are going to be sure it is in your niche…something that you have products that you can promote that fit.

Another way to make money from expired domain names is by “parking” the name.

So in the first example you redirect traffic to your site.

Parking is similar in that you are going to redirect the traffic so it isn’t floating around, lost out there, but this time you are going to redirect that traffic to a parking site.

A parking company will take it from there and do all the work. Basically what you are going to be doing is sending people to a page that has ads on it…but you don’t have to create the page or the ads. When any of that traffic clicks on the ad and buys something you get a share in the commission.

Why would you want to go this route? Well, maybe you don’t have products to promote…or maybe you found a great site with awesome traffic but it isn’t in your niche. The beauty of parking domain names is that they don’t have to be in your niche.

If you follow either of these techniques, you can use expired domain name traffic to expand your home based internet marketing businesses. Whether you decide to promote products or park you can profit from the work done by previous owners.

Anyone with home base internet marketing businesses can use expired domain names as a way to make some money as long as you find one with decent traffic. It doesn’t take long and you can get monthly income coming in right away.

How much does it cost

Buying expired domain names can vary in cost. Most of the time you can buy a good domain name for about -75. With that kind of low investment it is easy to make that a profit. You can of course find domains that will cost you more, but especially when you are starting out I don’t suggest it.

How can you make money

There are a couple ways that you can make money from buying expired domain names.

The first is to redirect that name to your existing website. This works great when you buy a domain name that is in your niche and if you have a website that you use for either list building or promoting products.

A second way to make money is to buy a domain name and then resell it.

This usually means you are going to hold that name for awhile…and while you are holding it you are going to make money from the third method.

The third way to make money with expired domain names is to park them. In this case you don’t have to be in a particular niche, you just redirect the name to a parking company and you collect money from that company. The build a site and put some ads on it and whenever somebody clicks on one of the ads, you make some money.

How long does it take

Redirecting a domain name is really fast and easy to do. If you already have a website you probably know how to do this. If you have done any affiliate marketing where you buy a domain name then you have definitely already gone through the steps and you know how easy it is.

So whether you are redirecting to your own website or to a parking company it really takes about two clicks.

Let’s say the domain is registered with GoDaddy.

Of course the process would be really similar with whatever registration company you are using. Within your account there is a place where you can change the Host Records or the DNS Records.

In the case of parking, you enter in the name server of the parking company you are using.

Bam! That’s it.

Now the very first time of course you will have to set up an account with a parking company but that doesn’t take long either…really a couple minutes to set up an account. You can do a Google search to find the companies. There are a ton of them out there. They are really competitive…which is a good thing for you because they are competing for your business.

Some of the sites are more user friendly than others…so look at them and see what looks good to you. Some will have higher or lower payouts. What I suggest is you start with one and get a baseline. Then you can always move your site to another parking company.

So it is really that quick. Once you have set up your account with the parking company you can have everything done in a matter of minutes. You register your domain for around -75. You redirect the name to the parking company. That’s how home based internet marketing businesses can easily and inexpensively profit from expired domain names.
