how do i renew my expired domain name which was registered by a friend who is now unreachable?

My friend thought he was doing me a favor, but I haven\’t been able to find him since my domain name expired. I don\’t want to have to bid on it in an auction, I just want to renew the domain name associated with my business over 12 years ago.

  1. You won’t have to bid for it at auction. Just wait for it to completely expire and go pending deletion.

    On deletion, just re-register it.

Most likely your domain name isn’t that notable and no one will be interested in it.

Under no circumstances should you contact one of those bidding firms, because they will be happy to wait and register it for you for $5 and then sell it to you for $500.

Go to a tucows reseller, go daddy, or any other direct registrar and pick it up when it finally gets deleted.

First, find out whether the domain name is free to register again because you said that it has already expired. You can type in the domain name here : http://www.inWebHosting.com and check if its Free to register again and if not check the whois on when it had expired and will be deleted.
