How does a website domain help make money?
I\’ve recently found that a lot of people are selling domains on ebay. And some even sold it for $7,000. But how does domain help people make money? And once they bought the domain, don\’t they have to manage it and pay for the fees each month? thanks. I\’m so clueless about this.
The name of the domain might be a hit in June. What do you guys think?

The value is in the name which might be significant to the purchaser paying the high price.

popular domain names are useful to people that want to make a site easier to find. for instance if you are in the pizza business you’re going to want a website called bobspizza.com or something like that. chances are however that domain is already taken, and so the bidding begins.

Certain people buy domains that they think may become popular and flip them on ebay for a profit. The companies want a nice address. a simple one. so they may spend more than necessary to obtain a decent address. It gets them more money because a memorable address is more likely to be visited than a long/confusing one. Ok then. Long explanation done.

It pretty much about the name, which would be catchy and something easy for people to remember. The domain name is good marketing. Beyond a catchy name that is easy to remember, some of it has to do with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) . When google, yahoo, or msn index the web they take in consideration key words and the domain name. Consider if you were shopping for salt water fish, if you type that up in google or yahoo you’ll find http://www.saltwaterfish.com, or if you search bridal bell you’ll find http://www.thebridalbell.com Of course there are other factors, mainly key words, but its pretty significant when websites have keywords in their domain. Its a reason why websites use key words in the urls like http://answers.yahoo.com/question/answer guess what site question and answer bring up?
All of this in the end just bring more people to a site where they earn money off advertisement and selling stuff.
As time goes on and there are fewer and few good .com domains so the value for the good ones that exist goes up.

1. you can build your own website then apply for google adsense publisher, once you approved you can put google ads on your site then google pay for you
2. then you can parked your domain in parked provider then you earn money each visitor click your ads
3. you can use affiliate marketing to make money
4. you can resell your unique domain (sort word domain)
